Wren’s Signature Fruit Salad

fruit salad

Cook Time: 5 minutes.

Under 100 calories, it’s so simple, so easy, your kids will love it! You will too, because this fruit salad will become a favorite not just during the holidays, but any time. I remember the first time my nephew tried it, his eyes went wide and he said “Mooore!”. 🙂 Many other kids love this recipe too. And the best thing about it? It’s good for you. Perfect for Independence Day as a 4th of July treat. Getting together with friends and families; there’s nothing quite like it, especially nowadays when people are so soaked into technology, working, and providing for their own families. It’s hard to get everyone together at the same time! You know how that can be, I’m sure. The only bad thing about this fruit salad is that even though you just made 10 servings for the party, it’s gone as soon as you put it on the table, so I usually make extra as it can sit for up to a week in the fridge (minus the bananas). I always add bananas as I serve so that they are nice and fresh. I hope you enjoy it! It’s a simple, no-fail recipe that’s tailored for your very own taste buds.

For 6 servings you will need:

  • 2 Fresh Apples (cut into bite-size pieces)
  • 1 Ripe Banana (sliced)
  • 4 oz. Fresh Blueberries
  • 3/4 c. Fresh Grapes (cut in half)
  • 1 c. Fresh Strawberries (cut in bite-size pieces)
  • 1 Dannon Oikos Triple Zero Vanilla (single-serving)
  • Cinnamon (to taste)

Directions:

It’s important to note that the nutrition label will be for the above written ingredient list. However! Don’t let this stop you from putting any type of fruit you want in there. A variety of fruit in your diet is best in moderation. So pretty much anything you can put inside a medium to large mixing bowl will be enough for 1 sing-serving of yogurt.

Also, as far as cinnamon goes. I like extra, extra cinnamon on mine. So go with a broad sprinkle first and after you’ve mixed it, taste it to see if you want any more.

Other than that put everything into the bowl and mix well! For parties it is nice to have a slice or two of star fruit on top for garnish. Hope you enjoy! 🙂

Apples

“In the laboratory, apples have been found to have very strong antioxidant activity, inhibit cancer cell proliferation, decrease lipid oxidation, and lower cholesterol.”

So can an apple a day keep the doctor away? I can’t promise that, but what I can say is that apples are known to have anti-inflammatory properties. They fight heart disease, are high in fiber, improve digestive health, are a good source of Vitamin C, helps you manage your weight, fights Diabetes and Asthma symptoms, and also is a high source of Boron. All that said, apples are delicious and should be a part of any diet. I use it as a base in my fruit salad because they have such a sweet soft crunch that just melts in your mouth.
