If you want to try an awesome DIY veggie burger, you are definitely in for a treat. So simple, so easy, they definitely hit the spot. They’re delicious on burgers, salads, and pack a lot of flavor! When I make this recipe I make a huge batch of it and seal them in the freezer for easy use later.

For 4 servings, you will need:

  • 1 Can Black Beans (drained)
  • 1/3 c. Sweet Onion (chopped)
  • 1 Tb. Fresh Garlic (minced)
  • 1 Large Carrot (grated)
  • 1/4 c. Green Bell Pepper (minced)
  • 1 Tb. Cornstarch
  • 1 Tb. Warm Water
  • 3 Tb. Sriracha (to taste)
  • 1 ts. Chili Powder
  • 1 ts. Ground Cumin
  • 1 ts. Seafood Seasoning (optional)
  • 1/4 ts. Sea Salt
  • 1/4 ts. Ground Black Pepper
  • 2 Slices of Wheat Bread (crumbled)
  • 3/4 c. Unbleached Flour

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 350° F. Have a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Mash the black beans in a bowl and add the onion + garlic + carrots + bell pepper. Mix well. In a separate small bowl, whisk the cornstarch + water + sriracha + chili powder + cumin + seafood seasoning + salt + pepper. Add to the black bean mixture.

Mix the bread crumbles into the bean mixture and stir well, adding the flour 1/4 cup at a time, until a sticky batter forms.

Add spoonfuls of batter onto the baking sheet lined with parchment, and form 3/4 inch thick patties. Bake for 10 minutes on each side.

Now it’s ready to serve! These black bean burgers are the best! Enjoy 🙂

Hey! Can’t we eat as much as we want to and burn down those calories ingested by walking? Because, I am not a diet person… Lovely posts on your blog. I just followed it

Thanks! And yeah walking is a great way to begin burning calories. But your body will get used to certain activities and won’t burn as many calories. But whether you want to lose weight or not these burgers are healthy for you! Most burgers you get at fast food are around 1,000 calories so this is a win win 🙂
